This is the inconsistency with this storyline it is like they have burst of extreme power or something. Think about it she was portrayed as extremely powerful before she cultivated. Then she cultivates and has on a protective dress. So based on that shouldn't she have stood a chance?

hmmm...good point. I am not sure if it is or not. It might be, I would have to go back and re-watch that to check, but I could understand the problem with that scene if it were an emperor level artifact. That is the fact that she was not wearing it. Yes she changed her outfit but the cloak part was the important magic. Even if it was emperor level she was not wearing it when her sect master showed up.
